Year 3/4: Stone Age Necklaces

Over the last two weeks in art, the Year 3/4s have been learning about the artefacts discovered in the Neolithic village of Skara Brae in the Orkneys and making their own clay necklaces.

There is always great excitment in the Art Studio when we get out the clay (and the aprons!).

 Once the clay was dry, we arranged the sections into patterns and threaded them onto a cord:

The children found some aspects of this project challenging, in particular, threading needles and tying knots that bore the weight of the clay, but they were so excited to see the finished necklaces:
